Frequently asked questions
What types of foreign companies can be established in Bali?
Foreign companies in Bali can be established as either a branch or a subsidiary. A branch is a part of a foreign company that is located in Indonesia. A subsidiary is a separate legal entity that is owned by a foreign company.
How much capital do I need to open a PT PMA in Bali?
The authorized capital stated in your company’s legal documents must be at minimum IDR 10 billion, with investors generally expected to place at least IDR 1 billion into the company’s account within the first year. Requirements are reviewed periodically, so our team can confirm the current threshold for your specific sector.
What is the KBLI, and why does it matter for my business setup?
KBLI is Indonesia’s official business classification system, issued by the Central Bureau of Statistics. Every PT PMA must register under the correct KBLI code, which determines your licensing requirements and any foreign ownership restrictions for that sector.
Can a PT PMA own property or land in Indonesia?
A PT PMA cannot hold freehold property, but it can secure Right to Build (HGB) or Right to Use (Hak Pakai) titles, valid for up to 30 years with two additional 20-year extensions available.
